Casts, prints and textures

I was very busy   for last few weeks and had some ups and downs during that time but it looks like I am on the right track now :D

I still can't decide how many and what combinations I want to show in the exhibition but I hope I will figure it out soon.

I have 13 final tiles, it's easier to spot the differences between them when they are mixed. Here is the first set of 6.

As I mentioned before I want to link the old and new parts of the college building in my work. To do that I have collected textures from around the campus and then placed them inside the tile.

I am also experimenting with printing some of the textures as line drawings on clay.

Porcelain Paperclay

I still don't know exactly how my finished pieces are going to look like but I know that I want to make something light and translucent. That is why I had decided to work in porcelain.  Some of the forms can be too difficult to construct in porcelain without risking that they will collaps in the kiln.  In order to overcome this obstacle I had prepared some paperclay which is lighter and hopefully will keep the shape better.  First I cut porcelain in small pieces and let them get bone dry. Then I crushed them even more and added water to make smooth slip. When I had porcelain slip prepared I teared up some toilet paper and soaked it in hot water. After some time I sieved it and mixed with porcelain slip.

Final Project :)

Hi again :) This time I have just one FINAL project :) I had to pick something that will keep me interested and excited for a whole year so it may not be a surprise to some of you that I decided to base my work onece again on architecture. Most of my inspiration photos are already in the previous post -I just love the patters and reflections in them. Here are some of them just to remind you what I have in mind.  And here is what I did in PhotoShop to bring some of the plans forward and broaden my research.  Now I just have to do the magic and get something interesting out of them in my sketchbook :) I am looking forward to do that but on the other hand I know it is a tough project.... Well I hope to update you soon with my drawings and swatches :) Please let me know what you think :)

Blast from the past :D

I was cleaning my apartment this week and I found very old drawings - some even from 2002 but I won't show them :) Here are some drawings I did in 2007 They are far from good and I like to think I could do better now :) At the time I was making them I was attending Portfolio Preparation Course in Limerick College of Further Education and all of the above were my homework life drawings of Tomek. I was very 'stressed' in them and couldn't loosen up even though I was trying - I was still afraid of the big white page in front of me.  All my skills and approach was straight from polish art course - it was all about the technique and I didn't know anything about creativity and was a bit scared when I discovered that I am able to make crazy thing as well: They are all a product of one night work :) I got crazy and was drawing to the music - as you can see it made me happy. This batch of drawings is the 'looses...
