Sketchbook- week 2: Model making

As I said in the last post I was confused and didn't know what direction I want to go with this project. There is so much going on in the photos I have selected as my sources and even more in the images created in photoshop... In order to narrow down my research I was advised to came up with the name for the project and write down the concept.... I still didn't find the name and my concept is not written in stone but I know what is important to me and what I want to concentrate on. 1. Geometrical forms - structures that will include the patterns - very clean lines. 2. Reflections and light - that will be my surfaces - highly glossy. Should be easy :) I started with some clumsy models that will deal with layers - that was before I've organized my project. And after stating my priorities I came up with simple shallow '3D' panels. I am happy with them and I want to create more patterns and them maybe construct bigger models using them.

Sketchbook- week 1

It took me a while to get going but I am back on my feet and working away :) So after playing with Photoshop I did some drawings and started 3D swatches and mini models. I had couple of approaches and was a bit confused for some time. First I did some simple drawings concentrating on most interesting parts from the photos. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for but it helped me realize that I am interested mostly in layers and geometrical patterns in all the photos. My next approach was to explore the layering aspect of my source. To do that I have made few mixed media swatches. At the same time I was also exploring the same idea by tracing different plans from the photos and then rearranging them. I like the result of the last two tracings. They have more illustration like quality which complements their surreal futuristic look.
