Lodz Design Festival

Here are some photos from Lodz Design Festival.

Clay and plaster models.

The last week was quite hard for me as I got stuck with my project and wasn't sure which direction I should go. I wanted to do something in clay that will reflect my plastic models but then I felt that I should do something different. As usual in this type of situation I spent hours just looking at what was straight in front of my nose and kept asking myself ' What to do next?? And how to do it??' I finally have made few pinch pots - will add photos next week when I'll get back home. When I was making them I have realised that it's not what I want to do but will use them anyway - you never know where the next idea is going to come from. Last few days I was stragling with making moulds- I don't like making them but I know I need them :). I spent two days trying to get around mould-making but in the end was forced to do it. So far I have prepared  some plaster models. I am in Poland now, just for the week and will post some info about International...

Model-making stage

When working on a project after drawing stage of research I'm ussualy starting to make models which are a 3d 'translation' of my drawings. This is my favourite part of  work :) I can play with different materials in order to find more inspirations. This time I was working directly from (and on ) plastic bottles. By following the shapes and already existing patterns I have created forms that hopefully will give an idea for clay work. I have started with simply cutting bottles into pieces. Then working with each part separately I was trying to find interesting form or create movement. I was very attracted to patterns on the bottle's bodies. I have used the indentations as a guideline and separated the bodies into single segments. Eventually I have ended up with many little pieces which become modules of a new form. By manipulating and repeating the same basic part I have achieved quite interesting forms.        ...
