Glaze tests

I am still not sure if I really want to glaze this tiles... I did some tests and there are few glazes that I like and will experiment with them a bit more. So far I was concentrating on clear, black and gray but I got some surprises like green and purple. I will show you some more photos soon as it is quite hard to photograph them and so far I like just this 3 photos.

    Hi Aga, It's hard enough to tell just by looking at the photos....the blacks looks great, but I like the colour scheme. Might be nice to see a mixture of matt and gloss or a subtle graduation from clear to black - a lot of work though. Love your work :)

    Thank you for the advice :) I actually have some line test of grays and blacks but they are still in the kiln - hopefully will take them out tomorrow :)

Porcelain Paperclay

I still don't know exactly how my finished pieces are going to look like but I know that I want to make something light and translucent. That is why I had decided to work in porcelain.  Some of the forms can be too difficult to construct in porcelain without risking that they will collaps in the kiln.  In order to overcome this obstacle I had prepared some paperclay which is lighter and hopefully will keep the shape better.  First I cut porcelain in small pieces and let them get bone dry. Then I crushed them even more and added water to make smooth slip. When I had porcelain slip prepared I teared up some toilet paper and soaked it in hot water. After some time I sieved it and mixed with porcelain slip.

Something different

It's almost Christmas time and I was given a chance to take part in Craft Fair organized on  Limerick's Milkmarket. It was an experience all right but I don't think I want to carry on with this type of sells...  I have sold just few stars and I am deeply disappointed. There were simply no people there, I don't know what was the reason... maybe it's because of the recession.... Well anyway here is the stuff I was trying to sell, hope you like it :

Artist in Residency
