After effects

To be honest I thought that I lost one of my tests - I wasn't very happy about the results.
But... I got an idea today and decided to work a bit more on this test even though it was fired and glazed already.

The black stain was applied to thickly and was smudging a lot.
I washed off the excess of the stain and I think the result is closer to what I wanted.
I will do some more 'after effects' and share the photos with you soon.

Porcelain Paperclay

I still don't know exactly how my finished pieces are going to look like but I know that I want to make something light and translucent. That is why I had decided to work in porcelain.  Some of the forms can be too difficult to construct in porcelain without risking that they will collaps in the kiln.  In order to overcome this obstacle I had prepared some paperclay which is lighter and hopefully will keep the shape better.  First I cut porcelain in small pieces and let them get bone dry. Then I crushed them even more and added water to make smooth slip. When I had porcelain slip prepared I teared up some toilet paper and soaked it in hot water. After some time I sieved it and mixed with porcelain slip.

Something different

It's almost Christmas time and I was given a chance to take part in Craft Fair organized on  Limerick's Milkmarket. It was an experience all right but I don't think I want to carry on with this type of sells...  I have sold just few stars and I am deeply disappointed. There were simply no people there, I don't know what was the reason... maybe it's because of the recession.... Well anyway here is the stuff I was trying to sell, hope you like it :

Artist in Residency
