Few more tests

It was a long break since my last post. I have to admite that I didn't do as much work during that time as I would wish. Lack of kilns and Christmas brake were the reasons of the slowdown in my work.

I have made sagars and fired few tests in them.


This piece was inspired by the shape of sagars.



I also mounted some my previous pieces on a board to get better idea how will they look on the wall.

Blast from the past :D

I was cleaning my apartment this week and I found very old drawings - some even from 2002 but I won't show them :) Here are some drawings I did in 2007 They are far from good and I like to think I could do better now :) At the time I was making them I was attending Portfolio Preparation Course in Limerick College of Further Education and all of the above were my homework life drawings of Tomek. I was very 'stressed' in them and couldn't loosen up even though I was trying - I was still afraid of the big white page in front of me.  All my skills and approach was straight from polish art course - it was all about the technique and I didn't know anything about creativity and was a bit scared when I discovered that I am able to make crazy thing as well: They are all a product of one night work :) I got crazy and was drawing to the music - as you can see it made me happy. Porcelain Paperclay

I still don't know exactly how my finished pieces are going to look like but I know that I want to make something light and translucent. That is why I had decided to work in porcelain.  Some of the forms can be too difficult to construct in porcelain without risking that they will collaps in the kiln.  In order to overcome this obstacle I had prepared some paperclay which is lighter and hopefully will keep the shape better.  First I cut porcelain in small pieces and let them get bone dry. Then I crushed them even more and added water to make smooth slip. When I had porcelain slip prepared I teared up some toilet paper and soaked it in hot water. After some time I sieved it and mixed with porcelain slip.

Dublin

In last two months I was in Dublin more often then in whole 6 years of living in Ireland! This week I was very lucky to be part of Ceramics Ireland Exhibition which takes place in Rathfarnham Castle starting this Saturday until 27th August. The Castle itself is interesting thing to visite but the exhibition is located in one of the rooms that wasn't renovated and it looks amazing... But more about it in my next post... Now I wanted to show you some photos I took that day... As some of you have noticed I like Architecture and Patterns so don't be surprised :) Hope you'll like them :) I do :)
